OK peeps! We are getting oh-so-close to Christmas. Can you believe it? Today I want to share two of my favorite things, AND I want to give something away!
I’m going to give you a glimpse into my kitchen (this is most definitely NOT the gift). Are you ready?
I pretty much cook in Betty Boop or Cupcake jammie pants and bare feet (or heavy socks in the winter) and a t-shirt that is usually covered with flour (OK – and chocolate). The photos at the top of this site… uh… you will never find me in the kitchen looking like this. It’s not practical or comfortable.
Also… I cook to music. Loud music. While I enjoy most types of music, when I’m cooking I prefer to listen to classical, theater soundtracks, old musicals, and praise and worship music. Music inspires me. It always has. Sadly, God did not give me the gift of song. Of course, that does not stop me from singing at the top of my lungs… when no one is listening
My newest absolutely favorite CD to listen to while I cook is “Tenore,” timeless hymns and songs of inspiration by three amazing Christian tenors. OK – I’m a bit partial to this particular CD because I adore (big time adore) one of the tenor dudes. Jason Catron (in the middle) is stinking adorable. Around here we call him our Mancub. Each time I hear him sing live, I am moved to tears. His voice ushers me to a sweet place of worship. Looking at his adorableness it is hard to comprehend the voice that comes out of him.
I love this new CD so much that I simply cannot keep it to myself. I think everyone should own it, sing to it, give it to all their friends, wear it out, then quickly buy a replacement!
Here’s the link for a teaser listen and for purchasing the CD: Sing! Presents TENORE.
And, in the spirit of sharing… I am giving one away! Woo Hoo!
Here’s what I want you to do. While this CD is not a Christmas CD, I want you to post a comment letting me know your favorite Christmas CD or all-time favorite Christmas song and why it’s your favorite. The winner will be chosen tomorrow (December 15th) from a random drawing from the comments.
Now, because this is a cooking site, I want to share a favorite recipe too…
I know the holidays can be a bit crazy with all the planning, cooking, church events, etc. So, I want to share a very easy recipe that is pretty, but not rich, heavy and full of calories! How’s that for a better option during these days of too many veggie casseroles laden with fat? (Not that I would turn my back on an ooey gooey cheesy casserole right now but… I’m working on balance!)
Chocolate Covered Clementines are very easy to make and very tasty. It’s just that little taste of something sweet, but not filling, that you need after a big meal.
Chocolate Covered Clementines
- Clementines
- Dark Chocolate (or semisweet) chocolate chips
All you do is peel the desired amount of clementines and separate segments. Make sure to keep the membrane in tact so the segments are dry. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, waxed paper, or aluminum foil. Melt dark chocolate (or semisweet) in the microwave. Carefully dip half of each clementine segment into the melted chocolate and place on lined baking sheet. Place in refrigerator to set. When ready to serve, arrange in a footed compote dish or other pretty serving dish.
Enjoy the music. Enjoy the yummies. And try to block out the vision of me in my jammie pants.
Sweetest Blessings,
LeAnn

I love the song “Mary Did you Know?”, I play it over & over again when I’m driving or in the kitchen. As a mom of 3 boys (1 born a week before Christmas), it really touches my heart & leaves me awestruck reflecting on the greatness of God’s love for us to give His ONLY son.
“Mary Did You Know” my all time favorite Christmas song….I’m having a brain freeze….can’t think of her name who sings this and brings me to tears on my knees, sobbing!!!! Beautiful!!!!!! My first layer of skin peels off!!!!!
The Wiebe’s Glorious Impossible and Messiah are my favourites this year. The message in both of those songs are overwhelming in different ways. And did I mention that The Wiebes is 1/2 Shane Wiebe, who is in Tenore? Yeaaah. Check out their Christmas album called “Christmas with You”.
I love “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” It’s like a prayer…crying out to the Savior…sort of sad yet with HOPE…the greatest hope of all the revelation of “Emmanuel”….
My favorite Christmas song is “O Holy Night”. I sang in church choirs as a child and then in chorus in Jr. and Sr. High. Our music director arranged the song so that 3 groups of 50 people or so sang a different part. I can still hear the 3 choirs singing so loud in our very old high school gym some 42 years later. It brings tears to my eyes any time I hear it on the radio or a CD. What a marvelous song to inspire everyone at Christmas!

“Mary Did You Know” is right at the top of my favorites list – and I want it sung by Mark Lowry, thank you very much. But my favorite CD is John Denver & the Muppets Christmas – it makes me happy everytime I hear it!
My favorite Christmas song has changed through the years: It Came Upon a Midnight Clear to O Holy Night, to Hark the Herald Angels Sing. At the present my favorite song is O Holy Night by Josh Groban. He sings it with more emotion than any other artist I have ever heard. With all that said, my favorite Christmas album is December by George Winston. It’s the first one I always play each Christmas season. First I had the vinyl album, then a cassette tape and now a CD. I guess it will be on an i-pod by next Christmas!
“Mary Did You Know” sung by Mark Lowry.
The one from my childhood is “Santa Got Stuck in the Chimney” sung by Jimmy Boyd. This is a different song than Santa Got Stuck up the Chimney.
Mine has always been O Holy Night ! and I am not picky about who sings it
Thanks for thinking of us and doing a Give-Away! How sweet you are LeAnn!!! and sweetest blessings to you too
I am listening to the music now—wonderful. My favorite Christmas song…hard to narrow down but O Holy Night, Little Drummer Boy…
My fave song is “Mary Did You Know?” Being a mom to me is the greatest gift after His gift of my salvation. I can not imagine what it had to feel like to be the mother of the savior of this world!
Selah’s Rose of Bethlehem!
thanks for the opportunity : )
Those chocolate-dipped clementines look delicious!
Favorite Christmas carols: “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” The lyrics and the melodies are so beautiful!
Favorite other holiday song: “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” It’s fun, my husband and I sing it together, and I love snow!
Thank you for sharing some of your favorite music!
Yum, the clementines look delicious.
One of my favorite Christmas songs is “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem.
I love, love O Holy Night and Ava Maria. They just make my skin get goose bumps and how I wish I could sing as some. Loved listen to the tenors. They’re great. I’m also enjoying the Sing-it program on tv. It’s so neat to hear the harmony that these groups have.
I love Amy Grant’s “Emmanuel, God With Us.” I don’t hear it played often on the radio, but it’s still one of my favorites. One of my close friends growing up sang it in church and I’ve loved it ever since. It has an unusual melody that you would remember after you’ve heard it.
My all time favorite is O Holy Night – I have memories of singing this in the Christmas program at church as a child. But, I also really enjoy “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” – it is so joyful and really gets my smile awakened.
My favorite is “Silent Night”.
